Abstract

The research sought to address the latest trends and developments in the banking business, specifically the Open Banking initiative launched by the United Kingdom and adopted by many countries with the aim of stimulating innovation and increasing competition, as well as presenting a clear vision of its foundation and framework. And in order to achieve this goal literature was reviewed, and the experiences of selected countries were presented as a sample and compared within specific criteria according to the analytical method. We concluded that the increasing role of FinTech companies in providing financial services in an innovative and less costly manner played a major role towards adopting Open Banking and stimulating competition. The research recommends that it is necessary for local banks to adopt the innovative method of third parties in providing banking services by providing them through applications on phones and smart devices available to most citizens.
