Abstract

The current study aimed to construct and test a model of the stages of information technology diffusion. The process of building the model and selecting the dimensions of the study variables were based on the literature that addressed this topic, as the stages of information technology diffusion were represented in four stages (the initiation stage, the adoption stage, the adaptation stage, and the acceptance stage). Regarding the study methodology, the study adopted the analytical survey approach. According to this approach, data were collected using a questionnaire prepared for this purpose based on the literature on the subject. The practical aspect was divided into two studies. The first was concerned with exploratory factor analysis and specific to the scale of the stages of information technology diffusion. This sample included (91) respondents from employees in the departments of the Ministry of Interior (National Card, General Passports, Civil Status Affairs). The second study was concerned with confirmatory factor analysis, and the number of respondents was (281) respondents from the same departments mentioned above. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that the four dimensions selected from the literature to measure the stages of information technology diffusion, and the measurement indicators employed to measure these dimensions, represent the structure of this variable. The measurement process did not change the shape of the four dimensions (stages). In the second (confirmatory) study, the test results demonstrated the validity and reliability of the model for measuring the stages of information technology diffusion, supporting the exploratory study and its results.
