University Strategy and its Impact on the Sustainability of Knowledge Production: A Field Study at the Tikrit University
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the impact of university strategy on achieving knowledge production sustainability, through a field study conducted at the University of Tikrit, in light of the rapid challenges facing higher education, particularly those related to enhancing scientific research and ensuring the continuity and quality of knowledge. The study was grounded in the assumption that adopting an integrated university strategy contributes to supporting knowledge production and sustaining it over the long term. The study adopted the descriptive–analytical approach, as it is appropriate to the nature and objectives of the research. Data were collected using a questionnaire distributed to a sample of (199) faculty members at the University of Tikrit. The questionnaire consisted of two main sections: The first measured university strategy through its dimensions (visionary, organizational and administrative, academic and research, and technological and supportive), while the second addressed knowledge production sustainability. The validity and reliability of the instrument were verified using appropriate statistical methods, and the data were analyzed using SPSS V26 and AMOS V24.The results of the descriptive analysis indicated that the level of university strategy implementation at the University of Tikrit was moderate with a tendency toward improvement, whereas the level of knowledge production sustainability was moderate. Furthermore, the inferential analysis revealed a positive and statistically significant correlation between the dimensions of university strategy and knowledge production sustainability. The multiple regression analysis confirmed a significant effect of the university strategy dimensions collectively on knowledge production sustainability, as these dimensions explained a high proportion of the variance in the dependent variable.
The study concluded that enhancing the clarity of strategic vision, improving administrative organization, supporting academic and research activities, and providing a supportive technological infrastructure represent fundamental pillars for achieving sustainable knowledge production. Accordingly, the study recommended adopting an integrated university strategic framework that supports scientific research and strengthens the university’s role in building a knowledge society and meeting the requirements of sustainable development.
